Northern Pictures wins Media Super Production Business of the Year at the 20th Annual Screen Producers Australia Awards

Last night, Northern Pictures was awarded Media Super Production Business of the Year at the 20th Annual Screen Producers Australia Awards held at the Star Event Centre on the Gold Coast. This prestigious award recognises a production business that has produced an outstanding body of work and has contributed to the advancement of the screen industry over the last 12 months.

In addition to this award, Northern Pictures won in the categories of Documentary Program or Series Production of the Year for See What You Made Me Do and Reality Series Production of the Year for Love on the Spectrum Season 2. The team was also a finalist in the Children’s Series Production of the Year category for Hardball Series 2.

From winning an International Emmy for Best Children’s Program for their first scripted series, Hardball to being the most watched factual program in SBS’s history for See What You Made Me Do to consecutively winning the Realscreen Award for Best Reality Series for Love on the Spectrum Seasons One and Two, Northern Pictures has built a reputation as one of the strongest story-telling production companies in Australia and around the world.

These accolades mark a stellar year for the Northern Pictures team, which includes the company’s expansion into adult scripted with original comedy series, Spreadsheet starring UK actress Katherine Parkinson and most recently, the announcement regarding the US adaptation of globally recognised series, Love on the Spectrum on Netflix.

In addition to its impressive body of work and slew of awards, Northern Pictures has also expanded its slate by partnering with Indigenous comedians, Benny Eggmolesse and Scott Wilson on co-venture, Yoowarni Productions, to co-develop and produce scripted content.

Next month on ABC, Northern Pictures will launch charming history-through-miniature-art production, Tiny Oz starring Jimmy Rees and in June, documentary, Southern Ocean Live hosted by Hamish MacDonald and Dr Ann Jones.
